Organised by the National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre (NVPC), the President’s Volunteerism & Philanthropy Awards (PVPA) is the pinnacle award and platform to recognise individuals, organisations and leaders who have achieved excellence in giving.

The PVPA Organisation of Good award category recognises the giving efforts of large and small-medium enterprises, non-profit organisations and public institutions. Our 2021 winners show that goodness is, indeed, the business of every organisation.

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) is the driving force behind Singapore’s port and maritime development. The winner in the public institutions category supports not just communities, but also seafarers and the marine environment. In the past year, they have housed migrant workers and enabled crew changes for seafarers who were unable to disembark from their vessels due to the pandemic. MPA worked with various partners to run seven floating accommodations to house 2,600 healthy migrant workers temporarily. Their quick response to the global crisis has been instrumental in supporting Singapore’s recovery and communities in the maritime sector.

Small Medium Enterprise Category Winner – SPECO Singapore Pte Ltd

Speco

Speco Singapore is a cleaning technology social enterprise. 80% of its workforce comprises marginalised Singaporeans. During the height of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, the Speco team worked around the clock to provide pro bono disinfection services to charities which lacked the resources to perform disinfection. Speco prioritises supporting other businesses for good to uplift various communities in need. It was their commitment and forward-thinking leadership that led to their win in the SME category.

Embracing the concept of Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) factors, FoodXervices Inc is dedicated to championing social causes, especially that of feeding people. Being distinctly aware of the food wastage issues in the F&B industry, the owners of FoodXervices Inc established a non-profit organisation, The Food Bank Singapore (FBSG), to raise awareness about food insecurity and food wastage in Singapore. As part of the company’s volunteering and CSR policy, FoodXervices Inc has continually given pro bono support to FBSG. In addition, their staff and delivery vehicles were also activated to help deliver free meals to FBSG’s beneficiaries during the Covid-19 circuit breaker. With even their employees going the extra mile to do good, it is of no surprise how they are joint winners in the SME category.
