Singapore, 30 November 2021 – SG Cares Giving Week returns from 1 to 7 December, to kickstart the festive season by inspiring the community to come together to give their best for one another and make giving a part of their everyday lives. This also marks the second year the National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre (NVPC) is partnering with the SG Cares Office and the National Council of Social Service (NCSS) to jointly organise the SG Cares Giving Week to celebrate the spirit of giving.

This year’s theme, “Giving Gives Life” hopes to uplift the community by showing how giving can bring joy to both the giver and receiver, and spotlight how the community can give in many different ways such as through their time, talent, treasure and voice in support of causes that one is passionate about, in all ways, big and small.

During SG Cares Giving Week, the community can participate in the various activities such as volunteering and donating via the national online giving platform Giving.sg and the SG Cares app. By engaging corporates, public agencies, non-profits and individuals to give during this period, we also hope to provide opportunities for those who have yet to give to come on board the giving journey.

Hybrid Launch Event at Our Tampines Hub
SG Cares Giving Week was launched at Our Tampines Hub with an hour-long programme featuring artistes such as Kym Ng, Fatin Amira, and Malene Waters, where they entertained both in-person and virtual audiences with humorous skits and heartwarming performances. The launch event was graced by Minister for Culture, Community and Youth & Second Minister for Law, Edwin Tong.

Mr Tony Soh, Deputy CEO, NVPC, said, “This year continues to be challenging for us all, but we are not deterred to give our best for others. Instead, we are even more committed and motivated to uplift those in need especially in this season of giving.”

“Any act of giving, be it big or small, contributes to building a culture of care for those in need. The act of giving gives life to the giver as much as it does to the receiver. Whether it is giving of time, talent or monetary donations, we hope that everyone will be inspired to give. This will go a long way towards supporting individuals and families in need and make us a more caring and inclusive society”, Ms Tan Li San, CEO, NCSS added.
