Intern, Philanthropy Collective (Colabs)

Team Information

Colabs is a community-based collaborative approach where diverse stakeholders come together to collectively unpack complex social issues and are inspired towards co-creating solutions. As a team, aside from convening multiple stakeholders, we are also building their capabilities to be better collaborators with one another to create a better ecosystem for all.  

Key desired outcomes of the team: 

  • A well-connected issue-specific ecosystem. 
  • Ensuring the system’s ownership of the solutions. 
  • A growing community of systems collaboration practitioners. 

Job Scope

You will be supporting the Philanthropy Ventures (PV) team in its work to develop and implement strategic cross-sector collaboration and influence systems change. In particular, you will be supporting the project below:

  1. Colabs 2024

Every year at Colabs, we bring leaders from people, private and public sectors to come together to unpack a complex social issue and create collaborative action. Your role in this project includes:

a. Supporting the team in the execution of the Colabs series. To contribute to the overall running of the series from preparation for the sessions, through to execution of the program for the day and working to ensure good post session follow up within the team.

b. Engaging the Colabs community networks. To work with the team to design and execute meaningful engagements with Colabs participants to build the community.

Responsibilities

Support team in various tasks relating to the projects, including but not limited to:

  • Project management support for the series including, scheduling, organising project management documents and working with senior team members to ensure the program is ran on time and to specifications
  • General operational support for virtual/physical events and meetings, including notetaking, timekeeping, attendance taking, calendaring, etc.
  • Building the community networks through meaningful engagements and sessions.
  • Any other tasks relating to projects or other responsibilities within the PC team

Requirements

  • Penultimate or Final Year tertiary student of any discipline, preferably with background or interest in social issues
  • Some experience with qualitative research and comfortable with understanding research findings and connecting them to ongoing literature and discussions drawn from events and sessions
  • High degree of familiarity with virtual meeting platforms like Zoom, Teams, etc.
  • High degree of familiarity with in-person event planning and logistics
  • Some familiarity with virtual co-creation platforms like Miro or Mural etc. (preferable)
  • Highly meticulous and detail-oriented, thrive in a collaborative project environment, and ability to juggle multiple projects at the same time
  • Self-starter, independent, possesses a high degree of discipline and commitment
  • Good sensibility, interpersonal and communication skills, especially with stakeholders of different levels

Learning Experience

  • Learn what it takes to create multi-sector collaboration and build a community for systems change.
  • Exposure to the planning of convening multi-sector stakeholders around a community-based collaborative approach
  • Exposure to large-scale multi-stakeholder engagement, including senior and mid-level stakeholders across the people, public and private sector
  • A look inside the workings of a strategy team at an organisation with a national mandate
  • Real world experience of applying research to program design and execution
  • Experience in understanding and analysing research to connect to ongoing conversations in the social sector

We are looking to hire an intern who is able to commit for more than 3 months.
